Scholarships & Internship Programs

Organized in 1868, the American Jersey Cattle Association has sponsored educational programs and activities for young people interested in the Jersey breed since 1917. Junior members have the same registration privileges as Lifetime Members, and also the incentives of a comprehensive program leading to national recognition for their achievements with Jersey cattle.
Educational Programs and Internships
To recognize youth achievements the American Jersey Cattle Association offers scholarships and internships designed to further the youth involvement and enhancements for the Jersey Breed. For most scholarships applicants must be enrolled in post-secondary institutions or be actively involved in on-farm internships.
Recipient selection
Among applicants meeting all eligibility requirements of the various scholarships, awardees are determined by an anonymous selection committee appointed by the AJCA President. In general the selection factors, reviewed through the completed application, academic transcript(s) and recommendation letters, are:
- Academic performance, demonstrated ability to excel and maintain good academic standing in school (35%)
- Activities and accomplishments with Registered Jersey cattle (30%)

Several scholarships have additional eligibility requirements and/or selection factors. These are listed in the application.
