Jersey Tags

More than half of the animals registered by the AJCA have permanent ID using Allflex double-matching tamper-evident ear tags available from the AJCA. Jersey Tags make ID easy and offer flexibility to meet your needs. Jersey Tags can be used as identification for more than just Jerseys. They are accepted by most other breed organizations as permanent identification for registration.
Jersey Tags
JerseyTags are offered in three (3) sizes of tag fronts, referenced to as female style tags and two (2) styles of back tags referenced as male style tags. This creates a total of five possible two-ear tag combinations for you to choose from: button/button, large/button, large/large, maxi/button, and maxi/large. RFID ear tags are available as buttons only.
Inventory tags (pre-registration)
Inventory tags are a must to have on hand for any new calves added/born into your herd, to be inserted soon after birth for identification. Each tag features a unique national ID number and herd management number to be used for registration purposes. They must be applied using the Allflex Total Tagger. Other taggers may work, yet can damage the tags resulting in future breakage.
You can order your inventory tags by mail, phone, fax, or by visiting the “JerseyTags” link under the “Quick Links” menu option. Tags can be ordered in any quantity needed. Unfortunately due to the low cost of tags we cannot offer bulk pricing deals but bulk orders to benefit from the fixed pricing outlined in the pricing section.
Custom tags for easier identification
Custom tags may be ordered after the registration process is complete, and set-up with the information you use most in managing your herd.
We offer a variety of customization options that can easily be pulled from your herd management software or our animal database information. Sizes, spacing, and character limitations vary depending on tag option.

Elements
Button Tags +
Button tags are the least visible and the least expensive. They contain only the national ID number and herd management number, and can only be used as inventory tags or as the back to large or maxi tags. Button tags, when used as both front and back, are essentially a plastic tattoo; however, they may be easier to put in and to read than tattoos. The button/button combination works well in both ears as a low-cost permanent ID. Button tags measure approximately 1¼ inches in diameter.
Large Tags +
Large tags are available as inventory or custom tags and will provide visible identification. In addition, large tags may have one blank line for producers to hand-write data such as birth date, sire or dam if they do not want to go to the expense of ordering and paying for custom tags following registration.
Large inventory tags may also be ordered with farm name or other information. When visible identification is only needed from the front, a button tag can be used for the back. When visible identification is needed in both font and back, a large tag would be used for the back at no extra charge.
Large tags are 2 ¼ inches wide and can be printed with two sizes of herd management numbers; medium, approximately 7/8 inches high, and large, 1 1/8 inches high. Large tags with medium-size numbering will have one blank line available for an imprint or handwriting between the national ID number and the herd management number.
Maxi Tags +
Maxi tags are the largest tags, providing the most room for printing herd management numbers and other custom information. They can be ordered as inventory tags or as custom-printed tags following registration. Maxi tags with a button back will have the herd management number printed on the back of the maxi tag for increased rear visibility.
Maxi tags are 4 inches wide and can be printed with two sizes of herd management numbers; medium, approximately 1 1/8 inches high, and large, 1 3/8 inches high. Tags with medium-size numbering have space available for up to two (2) lines of printing, or about ¾ inches for written information. With large-size numbering, one line is available for imprinting or ½ an inch for hand-written information.
840 RFID Tags +
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, also known as electronic identification (EID). 840 RFID tags are compatible with all standardized RFID systems. They fully support Dairy Comp 305 and PC Dart. A premise ID must be on file to order these tags. Contact your state veterinarian office for the required application.
Button tags are available with RFID to allow for ease in managing your animals. These tags should always be placed in the animal’s left ear. AJCA registration numbers coinciding with RFID tags begin with 840. This replaces the USA found on a typical registration number, making it JE840. The registration number for animals identified by 840 RFID tags will be 15 numbers long.
